Halle Bailey in ‘The Little Mermaid’ teaser looks stunning, Disney D23 EXPO | 2022

Disney’s new upcoming movie “The Little Mermaid” teaser released recently and I bet it’ll leave you amazed. Last Friday, Disney aired the first teaser of the much awaited remake of the live-action animated movie which was release in 1989 with same name. The teaser was launched in front of thousands of Disney fans during the D23 Expo event. The main spotlight in the teaser was the lovely shots of Halle Bailey‘s Ariel floating in the ocean with the legendary title “your world” being played as the background score also Halle was seen singing this song in some parts of the teaser. The film has been directed by Rob Marshall who has also directed “Mary Poppins Returns”released in 2018. Disney has already revealed that The Little Mermaid will be releasing next year in the month of May.

The starting part of the teaser comes with some glimpse astonishing beneath water wildlife shots and then further focusing on our Halle Bailey as Ariel the mermaid princess. In the complete teaser she is seen beautifully flowing across the water before taking a look above at the sun. And then comes the most amazing part where she starts singing “Your World” which has taken originally from the animated version in 1989. Moreover, the fans will be seeing Halle’s appearance first time in movie with that iconic Ariel’s red hair.

Alongside Halle Balley as Ariel, there are several other important characters too in the movie like Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Prince Eric is played by Jonah Hauer-King, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Ursula is being played by Melissa McCarthy. There are some unrevealed roles too like Noma Dumezweni and Daveed Diggs as Sebastian.

Halle confirmed in a red carpet interview during the 2022 Oscars that she will be singing some part of the song “Your World” in the upcoming movie “The Little Mermaid”. In addition to that she also shared her experience from the making of the film in a latest interview with Variety. In the interview she mentioned that she loved the little girl character which she played and she don’t wanna loose it and also she said that every little girls like me who’ll be watching the movie are very special and they all are princess in their own way. The assurance which she had been looking for years.

Halle Bailey in an recent interview with Variety also said that it was such an amazing experience recognizing the traits of Ariel at such young age, moreover her sense of belonging, being herself, her aspirations was something that i was most attached and relate to as a character. She always knew what she wanted to do and that no one could ever stop her.

The movie was first declared back in 2019, and then later on in July,2019 it was finally confirmed that the star and a prominent singer “Halle Bailey” will be seen as the lead character in the movie and also is a major part of the singing duo “Chloe x Halle”. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020 the production work was delayed and then in early 2021 the film began its shooting and was finally completed in July.

The Little Mermaid will be action film that will revolve over Andersen’s fairy tale by Hans Christian about the mermaid Ariel who’s only dream is to be a human after falling in love with a prince and for that Ariel makes a contract with Ursula, who reward her with the wish, but takes away her voice instead.

Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina are already signed up for the project, and there are rumors running around that the role of Ursula (the sea magician) main antagonist could be played by Melissa McCarthy. Flounder is a fish who’ll be Ariel’s best friend. Jason Martin who had voiced him in the late 1989 animated film will be giving a voice-over in the upcoming movie. Scuttle who’ll play a seagull friend of little mermaid and Buddy Hackett will be giving voice-over in the movie.
